High Fidelity sounding sound card for iMac with strong headphone out?

Apogee Duet, Focusrite Saffire 24, PRO 24 DSP, Echo Audiofire, Motu Ultralight mk3, RME Babyface or other?

I need a new sound card for my iMac (late 2006 OS X 10.6) with a strong headphone out that can drive my Beyerdynamic DT-990 because I am going to use it for music producing and listening to music as well via the headphone out.

I know that the Duet sounds very good but I dont know if the headphone amp is good to drive my headphones? it is also very important with stable drivers for iMac OS X 10.6.

I do not need so many in and outs.

Is it true that Firewire is lighter on the processors than USB today?

Soundquality is also very important.

Thanks!
