Great albums with vocoder!

I always get the same thrill when listening to Theatre of Tragedy - Assembly. Particularly the song Motion at the end. The same happens with Mike Oldfield's Five Miles Out. I seem to have a weak spot at vocoder'd vocals. redface.gif

What albums there are that sport a healthy dose of vocoders?

First thing that comes to mind would be The Man Machine by Kraftwerk... a must have album, vocoder or otherwise. Might sound a bit dated these days but it's a classic album.

Another classic song comes to mind that features the vocoder is "O Superman" by performance artist Laurie Anderson. It's a 8-minute minimalist performance art exercise that unexpectedly became a huge hit in 1981.

Neil Young - Trans

maybe doesn't qualify as a great album, but there are a couple killer tunes -  "Transformer Man", and "Sample and Hold"...

Ow man. Forgot about Kraftwerks pioneer status. Although I haven't heard the Robots before. Robots is such a classy presentation on the subject smily_headphones1.gif
Laurie Anderson sounds excellent as well. Oh god, so many good records to find. All these three songs sounded particularly excellent. Can be because of my good mood or it's the vocoder. biggrin.gif Thank you.
Keep them coming!

I almost forgot to show my "reference" song, what I thought of when starting this thread. Beautiful song with the vocoder!

Daft punk - Discovery

If you are into metal (and given that you like ToT, I assume so) you would probably like Cynic - Focus. It's a classic. And a masterpìece.

I'm not into all metal, but ABSOLUTELY if there's a vocoder present! biggrin.gif

Eiffel 65 - Europop

All Vocoder, all the time.

And I second the Daft Punk - Discovery recommendation.

Try ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky."

A little cheesy, but I can't help but love that song.
