Potential sources for DBA-02s.

As simply put as I can get, I'm toying with two ideas. RE0s/Fiio E5 with a Cowon J3, or DBA-02s with a Sansa Fuze. My ultimate goal is SQ, and I don't know whether the source or the phones have more weight in achieving the best performance possible. I'll be playing mostly flac, if that helps. My budget is ~300 USD. 

 

I require your wisdom! :)

I would go DBA + Sansa over your other choice.  That Cowon makes you first choice very expensive.

x2 on DBA-02 with the fuze

 

Although I did like the RE0 the DBA-02 imo is better and more refined and with slightly better build quality although it is harder to acquire and the wait time to get a pair unless you find one in the FS forums can be long. The choice would still be easy for me. Regardless of source I'd take the DBA-02 over the RE0 any day.

I have a J3 and DBA but it's being RMA'd at the moment so I can't provide much in terms of impressions. I did get to try BBE and the bass boost it offered was better than that of the EQ, but not much. I'll try to give better suggestions if it comes back in a reasonable amount of time.

 

Out of curiosity, why are you picking the Fuze over the Clip+?

I really don't know what the difference between them is, I just thought the fuze looked nicer.

HM-601 or a sony, you want warm and rich for the DBA's
