How do you mark left from right on your earbuds?

Thread Starter

I seem to always be putting in ear buds in complete darkness, at night, when I can't sleep.  I needed a way to mark left from right.  My method is to tie a knot on the left ear bud cord (they are small wires) near the Y connection of the left and right channels.

How do you do it? Just curious if anyone has any ingenious ways!  My buds were less than $30 bucks.  I don't think I could abuse some ETY's like this or any high end buds.

Maybe I will learn something

I wouldn't tie a knot, it would not be good for the cable. I use my PFE at night and I just guess in the dark, then swap if I'm wrong...they only fit one way. How about a drop of super glue somewhere to make a bump?? I never tried that.

You can put a small piece of tape as well. Masking tape would be easy to remove and not leave much residue.

Easy, put on my buds before turning off the lights. biggrin.gif

But Seriously, the masking tape idea seems good.

Maybe you can try etching a little groove or something into the plastic. But good earbuds should have physical indications anyway.

You can use some of this tape. It will make things easier.

I use a dab of the gel super glue on my left bud, I have most of my IEM's marked this way.  I wish all the IEM manufacturers would get on the bus and have some sort of tactile marking for the left one.
