Listening to Radiohead's album Amnesia in FLAC on an Asus 1215N running windows 7 pro. Audio output is set to 24/96 via 3.5mm cable headphone output to my Audioengine A5's (alas, they have no rca input...just rca output for some reason that i cant figure out) My mind is blown.

Im trying to figure out the next logical upgrade path. I can do USB audio output but it would only be good for downloaded stuff. Theres no CD Drive on this machine. not to mention, I have a 5.1 logitech z5500 setup downstairs, and thats hooked up to an Oppo Blu ray/sacd/cd/dvd/youtube/everything player. Currently saving up for a set of IEM's (monster turbine, unless the PRO model goes on some sort of ridiculous sale, I can only afford 150 tops without completely neglecting my girlfriend on my measly 30 dollar a week allowance and no time for a job:(   ) not sure if IEM's are a good idea compared to a DAC though. I can detail both laptops I use if necessary. the 1215 is standard but I also have a dell vostro in which I insulated the sound card to get at least decent audio quality. That was an issue that took a LOOONG time to fix.....
