any ideals on how the hd 555 will fair being powered by an Little Dot I+.  Is it even worth it?

I don't think it is.

 

It's one of those headphones that's very forgiving but also not a whole lot exciting.

 

The best use I ever got out of the 555s was using it as a gaming and late night movie headphone.

 

But it sounded no different out of my cheap Onkyo receiver vs my Little Dot I+ vs the uDac vs the Fubar III I owned.

 

I'd only buy one if you need the extra db.
