PC - Switching between sources: Fiio E7+E9 Combo and sound card

Thread Starter
I bought the Fiio E7+E9 combo at the start of the year and I'm liking it so far. The E9 stays at my desk at home and I take the E7 with me to use at work.

The problem I have is with my home setup. I can't seem to easily switch between the E7/E9 and my soundcard. So if I get sick of using headphones and want to listen through my speakers I have to unplug the USB cable going to the E9.

What I'm looking for is an easy way to switch between output devices. I tried one program, Quick Sound Switch, but it didn't work. Operating system is Windows 7 64 bit.

I have a program on my macbook that does exactly what I'm looking for, called Soundsource. Something similar for windows would be great.

Cheers.

It's 3 clicks of the mouse to change default output device in Windows 7.

Right click sound icon, playback devices, set soundcard as default device.

Plug your speakers into the pre-amp out of the e9 and use the nob for volume of your speakers :-)

PC > E9/e7 > Headphone out on front OR pre out on back.  IT auto switches.

HOpe this helps.

which OS?

Just like stated above... I have 3 DACs and 2 speaker sets connected to my computer and i can switch between them instantly with selecting the defult on the playback devices window.  I keep this window open most of the time.  It makes it very easy to compare set ups and it's only 1 click (as long as the window is up but thats only one more click)/

The E9 auto switches between the front headphone and rear pre-amp out.  If the HP is connected no sound is output from the rear pre-amp out, if no HP the preamp is is output.  It doesn't matter what the OS is.

Yes, if he changes to how you have yours set up - which I recommend because that's exactly how I have mine set up but be was specifically asking about how to change DACs (sound card to e7/e9) and that switch is in the OS (and very simple).
