Cowon hasn't been quick about bringing out a thorough user manual for the D3. They have a product guide with good basic info on their web site though.

I put together as much detail as I could figure out from the UI and media apps, and posted it today on my blog. If I get time I'll add some photos later.

Have a look. Let me know what you think. I know not many people own a D3 yet, but perhaps this info will provide needed knowledge to help make the decision.

Since several people have asked me how to get apps on the D3, I added a short paragraph about it.

 

In brief, there is an APK folder on the D3's internal memory.  Copy *.apk files to it and when un-mounted from your PC they will be found and the installer will ask if you want to install it.

On a related issue, AnythingbutiPod.com is hosting a download thread for android apps.  These apps work on the D3, but will also work on most other android devices including the Archos gen8s, the Creative Touch 2, and any android phone.

 

Creative's Ziio site is also providing android apps for download. They link to Freewarelovers.com.

 

And I've read that amazon.co, will be hosting their own android app store, presumably for a future Kindle that is android based.

In addition to the market hack the Roebeet was so clever to come up with, there are at least three other market apps that are easy to install on the D3.  They are:

 

1mobilemarket

SlideME (SAM)

AndAppStore

 

While they won't have as broad an array of apps as the offical android market, between them they'll have all then majoy categories well covered.

 

There is also word that Amazon will be opening its own android app store.  No date I've been able to find. Apparently they've made a deal to be the only source for the upcoming AngryBirds Rio game to come out with the movie of the same name.
