For Sale or Trade:
Price Drops: Beyer DT480, AIAIAI TMA-1
Will Trade For: Interesting Stuff
Will Ship To: Anywhere
I'm expanding my offerings in this thread a bit, and converting it to a sale or trade thread. I have a few other things I want to try, so I need to gather up some funds. It's time for a price drop--I'm going to drop these into "that should get 'em sold" territory.
First up is my Beyerdynamic DT480. I've described it before as a great headphone for people (like me), who like the IDEA of a DT48 more than the actual experience of a DT48. This one has received a new replacement cable reterminated with a Neutrik plug. They also have a new ($30) pair of DT100 pads, which transformed the sound in an astonishing way. Other than that it is stock, and in good condition for the age. Using a sine wave at high volume, I sometimes get a bit of noise in the left driver, but I can't seem to replicate it with music. These are pretty rare, and while they don't sound quite as razor flat as the DT48, they are pretty precise, fast and musical. They come with the original storage case. I'm looking for $90 plus shipping.
Next up are my Pioneer SE-7. I didn't know these existed until I saw an ebay listing for them. They have an extremely similar design to the Pioneer SE-4 and SE-6, and I think this might be Pioneer's attempt to maximize this technology. They sound pretty good, especially in the low end. The rest of the spectrum is a bit grainy, but pretty solid for a headphone of this vintage. This pair has been fully recabled with Canare L-B2AT microphone cable and terminated with a 1/4" Neutrik plug. The Y part of the cable is definitely more functional than attractive, but it seems pretty solid. One final caveat: I am not a smoker, but someone in the history of these headphones were. The smell is now almost gone, but I want to be as up-front as possible. Let's say about $SOLD plus shipping for these.
Finally up are my AIAIAI TMA-1. These are the limited edition G-Star edition, which might make these more or less valuable depending how you feel about the brand. I actually quite like these, but I'm finding they can't really do anything that my modded HFI-780 don't do better to my ears. I still think these are a remarkable deal for anyone who wants isolation, warmth and bassiness in a portable headphone. They aren't for people who like bright headphones, but they aren't as dark or muddy as some people have claimed. They come with all parts in the original box. I will price drop these once more to $140 plus shipping, which is a particularly good deal for Canadians who want to try these.
Finally, I think it's time to let go of my DBI Pro 700. I still really like their forward, punchy, bassy sound, but they have pretty much been replaced by my HFI-780. These have been well-cared for, and still look pretty much perfect. I have replaced the uncomfortable stock pads with a pair of Beyer DT770 pads: these are more durable, more comfortable, sound better, and have a nice piece of foam. Including the $30 pad upgrade, I'm asking for SOLD plus shipping.
At any rate, I'm still interested in a few things for trade, and would be happy with deals with some money on the appropriate end:
-interesting full-sized headphones
-solid-sounding vintage headphones
-Other headphones I haven't tried yet.
I have no real interest in on-ears or anything in-ear.
Thanks for looking!
