Denon AH-D2000 Amp

I don't suppose you guys can share your wisdom with me. I'm thinking of buying a pair a Denon AH-D2000 and I'd like an amp to go with it. However, I've currently got the Asus Xonar Essence STX and do I really need another amp to drive these cans? or can this sound card drive them sufficient. If I do require another amp, the budget is Circa £75.

Thanks.

The D2000 are very efficient and with your well above average sound card you should be able to drive them nicely.

Concur. You dont need an expensive to drive these cans. Investing more in your source will give more improvements.

I'll just use the soundcard in combination with the headphones then. Thanks for the advice smile.gif

Agree with investing in your source but I will say - if you enjoy your music at medium to high volume and listen to styles with fairly broad dynamics, you'll definitely hear a difference with an amp.

I agree. An amp makes all the difference.
