Best Headphones for under 60$

Some suggestions for ya:

 + 1 on the HARX 700. They need a good burn-in time. I like them so I bought another pair just for the hell of it.

try the pioneer se m390 they are incredible for the $60 price tag.

the mids are string and they have immense bass. the highs can be a little harsh though. i think they work best with rock and metal but techno should work well as well.

Or he can add 3 more bucks, making $63 and he can get JVC HARX900 from amazon. $63 with free shipping =]

I hear 700 and 900 are one of the best for the price.

If you are going to get Sennheiser's, then don't get anything below Sennheiser HD 418. only get HD418+

Aren't the Sennheiser's a bit bass heavy and low on mids and detail? At least the HD202 and HD203? I have not read anything about the HD428 :/

Well his budget IS $60... sooooo why get a set of $20 cans if he can spend 3 times as much?

I don't disagree that they are decent entry level phones but I mean, come on....

I highly suggest the Beyer Dynamic DT-235. I use mine with the Maxell DHP-II memory foam pads to make them circumaural.

Believe it or not, with those pads they actually make the headphone almost bass heavy.

The DHP-II is also nice, but may be hard to find now for cheap. I gave mine to my mom and she loves it. She tells me she even hates to take them off!

The AKG K44 also is not bad, but I hate it without an EQ. I EQ down the bass a lot. Between the two I'd take the DT-235.

Just a note that the DT-235 is supra-aural.

BTW the DT-235 makes a good budget gaming headphone too. With the DHP-II pads, it's the most comfortable headphone ever made!

I'm curious if the HD-201 is really horrible or not? It's said to have some fairly good mids (on paper).

 That's it, banned for double posting I don't even care what you're excuse is!  Haha, just kidding.  True, if the OP can spend more, then why settle for less?  In audio, as with many things, price is not always a good indicator of what quality(sound wise) one can expect.  A perfect example would be Bose's AE2, a headphone that sounds pretty good. though not without some flaws, but at a price of around 175 dollars is it a good value for price?  Well, when you look at options that cost a fraction of its price that clearly exceed it sound wise, then the answer is obviously no.  Hence, the HD202 could sound just as good as its 60 dollar competitors.
