Being a student audiophile... - Page 7

College sucks.

Has anyone applied for workstudy in college? how is it?

I am a work study student working as a web developer.  It got me the dough I needed to buy some Sunrise SW-Xcape, HD558, and FA003!

Don't let go of that work study money!  Find a good job.

The best work study to get is at a computer lab except look around xampus and try to avoid the campus wide computer people. The engineering school would be a good place to start they generally have their own tech support that hire work study and then you will actually learn something and have access to soldering equipment and other awesome stuff. If you get lucky that is smily_headphones1.gif

Hey I'm a student, too... but quite confident about my head gear including some Sony, Denon, Corda stuff and the big open electrodynamic Sennis (from HD545 up to HD800) and some other good sounding head-toys (K701, HFI580, MS1i, AD700, etc.) ...

I think it all depends on the individual situation, like what type of beer you prefer...  beerchug.gif

I live so close to Cal Poly, although I commute to CSUF. If there enough of us, do you guys think it's possible to have a mini meet? I've always wanted to go to meets and try different headphones with no success..

I did the same. Was up there for 2 years as a ME, failed MATH 241 and got a D in dynamics, and I was out the door. Spent a year at Cuesta trying to get back in, got another D in dynamics and decided to switch majors.

On the other hand, being a business major is so fun. Now I know why some of my friends could party Thursday-Sunday and still get above a 3.5

Asian guy wearing a LA hat with a MacBook? If not wearing a hat probably "bald?"

Not sure about the mini meet as the highest headphone I have is the HD595s heh.

Small world lol. I just transfered to UCSC from Cuesta, grew up in Osos, and my uncle's an ME prof at Poly (Joe Mello). I agree with juman231, we should totally have a mini-meet. I should have some new cans by spring break...a700s? I dunno. It's hard to know what you want when you haven't heard too many in the first place.

I'm a CE major and I've already had one internship offer for the summer, but I'm kinda hoping from a better offer from Google or EMC, but either way should be getting some pretty good money over the summer. Maybe this obsession won't totally kill me, or my poor poor wallet. Not likely though lol.

BTW turimbar1, you know that Cuesta uses HD280's for their audio-production program? My friend's in that, apparently the music lab is full of em. I imagine if you spent time at Cuesta you'd see a few around. Makes sense with the isolation, and pretty cheap. God know's Cuesta's not exactly rolling in the dough.

what kind of engineering and year? I'm doing industrial, freshman.
I always see people using apple earbuds. For some reason, I don't see people wearing beats by dre. I think the fad might've died down a bit. I used to see 5 a day, but now, I'd see 1 in a week if I'm lucky.

Just sold my pro900's and D4 so I can buy a nice amp for my UM3x. Kinda regretting selling my pro 900 though.

Not at UCSC, every-other person I talk to about headphones brings them up "arn't the beats by dre really good?". Also, lots of earbuds. But UCSC has a reasonably large electronic music program so you see some more interesting phones around once in a while. I'm pretty new at this though honestly...redface.gif

well I'm about to peel all the skin off my face and drop some dosh on a new can, then sell an old one. If that plan falls through hopefully I can get a good trade.
