Icon HDP + WASAPI (foobar) help!

I thought WASAPI would override my windows sample rate setting, but I notice a change in the soundstage of my d7000 when i go from 16 bit to 24 bit in the windows setting. I have both exclusive mode boxes checked (windows 7). I also have the output on foobar set to 24 bit. I currently have the sample rate set to 24 bit 44100 Hz in windows, that seems to work well.  What settings offer the best sound quality?thanks

as a new user, I noticed the same thing.  Not so much the sound stage, but just overall sound in general.  Just seems "flatter".  I am making the assumption that it is just the way my computer's amp is not as true and that the wasapi is "truer" to the music.  At least that is what I am telling my self.
