rofl, theres so many threads like this these days :D

anyways, i think if you like the shure sound, you should go with the SRH-840, the next model up

or you can go m50s for more bass

:D

That's a tough task, as the SRH440 sound so good that you might have to spend a bit more than budget allows to find something clearly better than the Shures, but here goes:

Audio-Technica ATH-A900, AD900

Beyerdynamic DT 660, DT 860

Grado SR125i, SR225i

Koss DJ100

Sennheiser HD558, HD598

And last but certainly not least Shure's SRH 840

thnx for the reply...

i guess the srh440 epitomizes headphone cost effectiveness

anyway i might as well go for HD558 or DT660

If you don't need the sound isolation the DT 660 provides, then maybe you might want to go with the Sennheisers.  You'll find that open-back headphones(like the HD558) offer increased depth and space to the overall sound.  I think it will both compliment and improve upon your SRH440.  Welcome to Head-Fi by the way!  Sorry about your wallet!
