Multi-Custom In-Ear Monitor Review, Resource, Mfg List & Discussion (Check first post for review links & information) - Page 59

Well I have thoroughly listened to all 4 switch options on the SA43s. Amazing doesn't even begin to describe how impressed I am with these, it really is like having 4 customs in one. I am gonna try to get my review up before the new year because once school starts I won't have any time.

Thank you for the reply Ulti. How do you think the XBA 4 compare with the other 2 i picked

Anyone here who feel they are up for a guess on how long in the future we have a sound equal to Stax 009 in a custom IEM?popcorn.gif

How many years do we have cordless IEM with 009 SQ?

All this will happen if there is a demand,  just given time and new technologies.

You could, but that would be a waste of money since the reshelled universals won't perform as well as a custom IEM and the resale value will plummet.

However I found out that they only have 2! Driver on each side, so my new plans is to get the NEW Sony XBA 4SL with the quad driver and then get it remolded into customs.

Can you guys help a noob here ? Is my plan a good one or not ? Price range is about 500$

If you can stretch your budget the aud-5X is excellent for the price and there are many fans of the JH5.

As I don't hav the chances of listening to the demo pieces, so asking opinion of yours to which more suitable for me ?

I would say none of those are close to the TF10.  The closest thing is the JH16 and LS8.  I will be reviewing the Hidition NT-6 Pro which should be closer to the TF10 than the NT-6.  The TS842 is an upgrade to the TF10 and while listening the other night for a cable review, the TS842 is a good step up from the TF10 for half the price of the others.

They supposedly do not have nozzles which won't allow for sound tubes to be attached, at least easily.  I am sure it can be done, but how it will sound is anyone's guess.

I sent them an email.  My review is done but I am waiting on them to get their order process worked out to put in my review.  They currently only take bank transfers but should accept international CCs in January and update their site.  If the help@hidition.co.kr doesn't get you a response, let me know and I will provide a different contact email.

Yep, the SA-43 is very versatile!  I am looking forward to your review and I am glad you are enjoying the SA-43.  It is a very enjoyable CIEM.

Sleek has Kleer technology, and even Bluetooth is improving, but it will probably be quite a while before we have Stax 009 quality in a CIEM wirelessly.  Is the SE 5-way the same quality as a 009?  I need an 009 and amp to power it to find out...

Thanks for the recommendation Joe,

But in your review, the 4/10 seal rating doesnt really push me to get it.

Question , if i would to choose a clarity with decent thumping bass and focus on female vocal , which custom should i go for ?

Anyway cant wait for your hidition NT6Pro review before making my decision to purchase my very first customs !

The isolation isn't all that bad on the TS842 and the scale represents relatively small differences.

The NT-6 Pro review is quite a ways away...I need to post the NT-6, EM4, and whatever else I get before the NT-6 Pro which should be the T1 Live! and rm3x, and possibly others.

Since I have not heard any of the three I really can't guide you at all.  There should be reviews on the AC2 and Pro 4 if you use the advanced search and search for specific thread titles.

@ caracara08, thanks for providing the link!

average_joe, you seem the right guy to ask :)

I have my JH13 but they're just plain boring on my club-type songs (r&b, etc). I also find them uncomfortably hard. Apart from the ACS T1, are there any other customs I should be looking at with awesome bass and great comfort? (silicone)

Thanks Joe,

with the TS842 in mind and  considering the price range

do you recommend DreamEarz aud-5X ? are the midrange/treble better than TS842 ?

Hi Joe, is there any good thing that Em3 pro has that you cannot find on em4?

Are they boring because they don't have much bass, or is it something else?  And what are you using for a source?  Your silicone options are as follows: ACS (and Altec Lansing), Spiral Ear, Sensaphonics, Minerva, Puretone, and Ear Proof.  I am still awaiting my T1 Live! to arrive, but I have reviewed the Minerva Mi-3, and have the Spiral Ear SE 5-way.  If you can get the 5-way, the bass is amazing.

From my aud-5X review:

Quote:

aud-5X vs. TS842: The TS842 sounds more distant in comparison with the 5X as the midrange presentation differences are prominent.  Resolution wise these two are fairly close, but the 5X does have the slight edge with better dynamic range giving it the ability to recreate the subtleties in the recording at lower volume in contrast to the main sounds.  The 5X has a little more space and better depth and height than the TS842 resulting in a more engaging presentation with tracks that have good spaciousness.

Bass isn't too far off between these two as the TS842 bass is tight an controlled and about on par with the 5X but isn't as warm.  Sub-bass is fairly similar between the two, although the 5X is a bit more enhanced while the TS842 has more sub-bass headroom.  The midrange of the 5X is forward in comparison with the TS842, giving a more personal presentation to go along with more apparent detail and resolution.  Treble of the TS842 is brighter and a bit more revealing if not harsher, as is the midrange as well.  Since the TS842 has more treble energy the harshness stands out in comparison with the 5X.

These can be considered competitors, but for as similar as they are in many ways, the different midrange presentation greatly changes their appeal.  The smoothness of the 5X to go with a more 3D presentation and more punch in the bass region result in less possible fatigue with the 5X.  But if someone prefers an analytical presentation, the TS842 fits the bill, and adding inline impedance to the TS842 changes the sound as the ER4P->S.

It depends on what you are looking for.  Both are good but are different flavors.

I am long from finished with my EM4 review, but the EM3 Pro has better forward projection with some recordings such as Balmorhea.

I'm not very good with these audio descriptions, but I'll try. By my count there are two problems. First, they're a bit too analytical. The music doesn't mix together energetically. They're very much a surround sound experience, but not musical. I can't explain it properly.

The other issue is the bass. It is not punchy at all. If this were a boxing match, the jh13s are not following through, and are pulling all their punches. I tried a friend's radius ddm and this was not the case at all, so I ordered that but I still want the surround sound experience of a CIEM. Musicality is a plus. Budget not an issue.

Ps, my source is hm801..
