A top down shot of my minerva mi's :-

Also for a laugh a top down shot of my recently back cosmic ear ma model.  You can see just how narrow my right ear actually is :-

Tried the ASG2 in AV Show in Hong Kong. I will assume that the bass switch is on the lowest notch. The sound didn't sound too dark for me, but the bass was quite heavy and sort of bled into the mids. For the price it was asking for it was alright. The SE846 didn't sound too impressive.

It's an interesting tuning IMO that they can get the bass that weighty and still keep the mids reasonably in line. If you felt the bass was quite heavy then I suspect the port was open a bit (they ship to customers with it on notch 2/4, ie one notch past closed). If anyone else goes, that would be a good question to ask.

Mind if I quote your quick impressions into the ASG-2 Review thread?

Sure thing! But mind that it was actually a few minutes of the ASG-2 with the Sony A844 which is known to boost the highs and mids. The bass was actually punch and deep, but it was a shame it bled into mids. The mids and highs stood out alone, and were quite clear, but you can feel the bass seeping into the mids.

Thanks! I'll post this context too.

Yea, the bass does get into the mids.

For those interested, I compiled a summary list and descriptive introduction to all the CIEM (did not include the UIEM ones, as that would take me until the next millennium to compile cool.gif) companies that I could find in China/HK... took me quite a long time, so happy reading!

It contains all the companies that we know (and love?), as well as (probably) companies that most members aren't aware of.

About Unique Melody section, they also have European part of the company, based in the UK, I think you should add it in the contact list too because for European UM lovers, they offer a very nice service.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Tomscy is trying to compile a list of China/HK based CIEM companies smily_headphones1.gif

Yes but I saw UM Global and UM International links so why no love for UM European (also international). I mean at the end it is still the same company and all the orders are built in China.

Awesome compilation Tom. I did noy know half of them. Concerning beat audio, having bought two of their top cables, I can say their build quality is unmatched.

A fascinating read. All the 'behind the scenes' info is particularly interesting.

Thanks for yet another great article, tomscy2000!

Has anybody has experience reshelling a pair of Etymotic? or in that case single armature drivers? Do you think worth the effort?
