Hello Joe,

 

I your opinion, which one(s) of the top technical performers manage to still have a fun sound with punchy bass and engaging vocals while still remaining quite accurate with nice space ?

The PP6 comes close to that, but the vocals are not as engaging (mid-forward) as the 5-way, which isn't as spacious as the PP6.  The PRM can be that, but then the bass isn't quite as punchy as the first two mentioned, and that wouldn't change with tuning.  The 8.A, EM4, and Fit Ear PS-5 fit the bill to an extent, with the PS-5 closer to the accurate part.  If you can give more specifics, I can try to narrow it down.

The PP6 lacks portability for me.

 

I imagine Fit Ear has nothing to do with Japan Fitear? Are the PS5 at the level of technical performance of the SE5 and NT6-Pro ? The SE5 seems to fit the bill, I just hope it still has some space. What about NT6-Pro ?

 

What I would like is the best from both of my CIEMs :) The Miracles are accurate, detailed, very spacious and airy, with very controlled and textured bass. The Shure SE530x6 have punchier bass (less precise though) and more engaging mids. I am not very good technically. I just know the Miracle feels more accurate and the Shure SE530x6 feels more fun.

wow what is this Fit Ear PS5 CIEM? I assume it's not the Fit Ear 335 company. Why are they so expensive. I don't understand why company nowadays ask for so much money for their new CIEMs product.

It's because it is a product that lies in a niche market. It's there way to cover costs all round. If the world got more interested, they might lower prices. Market demand and all that. This also assumes there is competition for sales in the market.

Another reason is because they can, and because we keep going back for more.

That aside, average Joe is a pretty cool lad and extremely helpful smily_headphones1.gif

The PP6 box travels well if you have very large pockets ;)

 

The PS5 isn't quite at the level of the SE5 and NT-6 pro technically, but that really isn't a knock as it is a step down and I still believe sound signature matters more than technical performance.  The NT-6 is more analytical and from what I have heard from someone that owns the Miracle and NT-6, the NT-6 is more detailed and technically better in many other ways, but the sound signature is different.  The NT-6 is brighter and colder with less bass emphasis.

I missed that thread otherwise I would have compared the 334 and the PS-5.  I may be able to borrow the 334 again at some point.

The people I know in India haven't heard of any India specific custom IEM companies.  UM is available there and I from what I am told, they take the majority of the business.  

 

UM had an agent here by the name of Lynx Audio, but now that agent has gone to pure electrical devices like oscilloscope & EPROM programmer / very less audio products. To my knowing there is no CIEM company in India.

The NT-6 brightness is affected by sources, and while the smoothness helps with the presentation, there is no mistaking that it is bright.  Reminds me somewhat of the Tesla T1 from a brightness perspective, but a more refined sound.  The SE5 is along the lines of the LCD-2 I have.

From what I have heard, UE is the dominant custom IEM player in India.

Yeah NT6 is bright, and SE5 is similar to LCD 2. And I just got my LCD 3 yesterday, the brightness is between SE5 and NT6. Great imaging. Once again I am amazed how SE 5 way can even technically keep up with LCD 3. LCD 3 is only a bit more neutral sounding (especially mids) than SE5 with smoother, more liquid-like presentation and more space/air. SE5 is closest to the absolute audiophile sounding CIEM when driving in the right system.
