Perhaps putting them in a microwave for ~30s or so will do the trick?

Thank you for your help... I think the 8.A is exactly what I'd want in a CIEM, soundwise! But the problem is here where I live, stuff coming from outside of Europe are almost sure to be heavily taxed by customs, around 40% more over the price I paid, and because of that, the 8.A (or any other CIEM coming from outside of Europe) isn't an option for me, sadly! About the EM4, I've read your review and comparison to the 8.A, and since I'm very sensitive to bright treble (sibilance and harshness are a no go for me) maybe they're not for me. I really think the laid back nature of the 8.A's treble would really fit my tastes (but also its mids and lows)...
I'm currently considering the Cosmic Ears HY3 triple hybrid model, as they're based in Sweden and the price/performance ratio seems very good! That model costs a third of the EM4, and having a dedicated dynamic driver for the low end is a plus for me! From initial impressions, it seems to be a very balanced sounding CIEM in the mids and highs, with great bass output. Maybe that's the way to go for me...

Seems like you'd want to take a look at the EM3 or EM6. The EM3 is basically the highend version of the SM3 which was anything but bright to my ears. Very heavy, rich, 3D presentation, I can only expect the EM3 to have more of an old tube sound to it than the SM3 did. Euphoric, involving, romantic. Not sure where in Europe you're from but if you're familiar with vintage British gear think 60's Leak gear for the EM3 and more like 40's-50's Brook gear for the EM6. The EM4 is earsonics "audiophile" IEM while still retaining the Earsonics flavor so it will be a bit more accurate/analytical when compared to the rest of their lineup, but still retain an Earsonics house sound. The EM3 is very musical and colored (again think 60's Leak) where the EM6 would probably sound closest to ProAc speakers if you're familiar.
I have no idea about the HY3, and unfortunately I don't know anyone that has heard the EM products vs the Cosmic Ears. I think Project86 can compare the HY3 with the 8.A (can you?), but the EM6 seems like a great bet for you. While the EM3 is better than the SM3, I wasn't overly impressed with the improvement honest, but the EM4 is the step up I was expecting, and if the EM6 is better than that...
The Rooth demos sounded better than the UM demos and many UM owners verified that. I verified the LS8 demo performed OK vs. the real thing (and you can read my comparison in my Rooth demo thread). I have the PP6 in demo form now and am evaluating it.

Hi,
I've been reading alot of reviews for C-IEMS and hopefully one of you guys here can help with some advice!
Going by the Glossary from headfi .. I think I am after a slightly laid back, warm, inbetween neutral to vshape custom IEM but cannot really pin point which one is best suited for this kind of sound sig!!
I was looking at Miracles or V6 but nothing seems to be ideal at the moment.
thanks
Here is a list of CIEMs I have heard that can fit, depending on the price range. UE PRM, SA-43, LS8 (to an extent), i9pro, aud-4X, Alclair Reference, and possibly the ACS T1
I would suggest reading the reviews and comparisons to see what you think would fit your taste.
I wonder if you would get a lightning show inside the shell?
My lazy arse still needs to get new impressions sent over to Cosmic Ears. My first batch of stuff from them fits pretty well but not quite as tight as I'd like. But when I do get them I'll compare.
I've decided to take the plunge on the PP6 - don't know if I'm hoping it is the best thing ever (which then makes the rest of my customs somewhat unnecessary) or not. Based on my prior experience with UM universal models, I'm just skipping the demo all together. We'll see.

Thanks for the help, guys! I'll look into the EM6... But that HY3 model is looking pretty good! Cosmic Ears also recently announced that they'll release a new 4 BA flaghsip model early next year, so maybe I should wait for that one too, before I make my final decision...

Thanks for your reply AJ!
I'm quite noob when it comes to sound description thats why after reading reviews I'm still not sure exactly what i'm after lol
Another noob question - when people say detailed/forward mids, is that the same thing as say increasing the middle of an equaliser upwards? i.e. opposite of V shape? Which to me may be 'airy' and I guess hollow?
edit: i did look at those CIEMS.. wished i had the budget for the UE PRM. I might read more into T1 as that looks pretty good, but nothing seems to impress me over the Miracles designs though lol
Any of the CIEM is similar to Ety ER4S/PT ?

I have plenty of thoughts about this and have seen similar issues (sales reps selling something they aren't supposed to sell) in different industries. Unless we really know how it all went down I wouldn't assign blame to any one place, but found it interesting to hear that there was a change, which I haven't tried to confirm or deny, and I will leave it at that.
Could be 2 things. That there were a limited # available and Heir wont order enough for a 'run' or that the company they were made for found out and made a stink about proprietary. In the 1st instance Heir needed to be made aware of availability and in the 2nd should not have been offered.
I think Joe was talking about the UM driver thing, not Heir.

Get impressing! A tight fit is important to get the best out of a CIEM, so I understand where you are coming from.
Nice! I have the demo now and am doing some listening, but it is a demo. I would venture to say the sound is closer to the real thing than the previous UM demos I have heard, but just how close I don't know. I like the sound signature.

The Cosmic Ears CIEMs seem like a good deal, but the EM6 seems like a top performer. Of course, my thoughts are based on others experience, so I can't say for sure.

Detailed is something different than forward miss (at least to me). You can make a headphone more forward with EQ, but depending on the EQ, the effect won't necessarily sound natural and can cause other issues. Some people can use EQ, but the EQs I have tried, at least in the midrange, affect the properties of the headphones, and usually not in a positive way. Detail is the presentation of the subtle, secondary sounds within a recording. Some recordings, such as today's pop, don't have much detail while a live acoustic recording or even some well mastered tracks from any genre have those details intact. I consider detail more of an instrument property, such as the fingers softly touching a string on an instrument. I also view another property: resolution. Resolution is how well the overall space is recreated, how black the space is between instruments, and overall recreation of the ambiance of the venue/studio. There is information in live recordings such as wall reflections, and also ambience put in at the studio. A V shape can be airy, but not always. It just means bass heavy and bright at the expense of the midrange presence.
What impresses you about the Miracles? The tone of my reviews is different than other reviewers and I tend to try present the performance without being too colorful to make them sound like the best thing. My point being, I am pretty sure the Miracle is really good, but how it stacks up is unknown to me. On another note, whenever I grab the T1, I always enjoy it!

Which I prefer? The Rooth demos sounded closer to the real thing than the others (and a Miracle owner told me the UM demos were off). From what I have heard, the JH16 is a less thick 8.A that is easy to drive. The LS8 doesn't have the bass enhancement of the JH16.
Hidition NT-6 is the closest. The IERM and SA-12 are close, but warmer and the AM4 pro is also somewhat close (not quite as close as the SA-12) and has a good deal more bass. The Spiral Ear single driver is supposed to be like the ER4.
Thank you, you are correct!
. However, do get the molds out, there was a great deal of twisting that had to be done and it was like taking out a suction cup. Do you think i should take new ones? It was tight when he pulled it out, but im not sure.
Usually audiologists know what they are doing....I think you're safe. If you look at them and there aren't any big holes or gaps, you should be fine.
The suction effect is actually good - it means you got a great fitting impression in the ear canal part.
Twisting obviously depends on your ear canal.
If NT-6 charts are anything to go by, then I'd say they're not too much like ER4S. ER4S is quite mid forward and less 10k bright/sparkly.
Are the JH16 or LS8 easier to drive with a Clip+? Also how does the AKG K3003 compare? Thanks so much for your help, I understand you are very busy and put a lot of effort into comparisons and evaluations.
