Let's hope there's no mistake on the model, and that our friend can have his hands on it by that time. But at least it doesn't look like we'll have to wait that long.

This is a thread from erji: http://bbs2.erji.com/read.php?tid=1001504 Try to read the bottom of the post. I refused to give you the google translator link, because it is just crazy. No possibility to understand.

Could it be that this 8G version, that is out now is the lower version. What do you think?

That's an interesting post because it's summarizing the specs, easier for me to put it together biggrin.gif

Anyway, it seems like you're right RAFA. If this is to be believed, the 800RMB 8Gb version is the lower/C4R amp version. Maybe Colorfly decided to create a differentiation with the Flash capacity, and the 16Gb will be the Higher/C4 amp version. I can't make any sense of the last paragraph, but maybe some chinese reading fellow headfier will be able to help us here.

Guys, for practicity's sake and until further info from Colorfly, shall we call the lower version CK4-R ? The CK4 would be reserved to the higher amp version, and that would be a bit easier to differentiate when we write.

Yeah, lets call this one CK4-R, because the one prototype unit, they reviewed was the real CK4, that we are waiting for.

Last paragraph doesn't seem terribly important, so long as you mean the PS part...

Seems he is studying abroad and hopes to be back in time for the high end version to be released, though he does wish he could get some of those free audio technica buds... to give to his girlfriend? that or she stole a pair of his old ones, though he has IE7s so wouldn't really care either way.. And something about a crab... i think that is slang I am not familiar with....

Above, the cheaper version will have a worse headphone amp, though people are saying the prototype's (which is the high end) headphone out is on par with the C4.  Also, he can't figure out what the meaning of the R is in the cheaper version's name, but maybe it is a weaker <board.. perhaps chip?>. Though an above post says it should only be a matter of... i think it is the players ability to drive headphones.  says "push ability."

The post, overall, doesn't seem terribly consequential.  He seems to be downplaying the differences and really just wants to try it out with his IE7s.  The price is fair and it comes with a free set of buds so why not?

I think he is criticizing the other posters for talking poorly of this low end version before trying it and.. idk, something about waiting for the high end version while bashing this one?

My translations inspire confidence huh?

Anyway, seems like confirmation that this is the low end version....

Thanks for the translation. Well I am not downplaying the lower version, I at least want to have the 16gb. But considering the price difference, it might be better to buy the high end version +8gb more.

This picture, which is showed on the Taobao product site, actually shows the 16gb version.

Cannot see any difference to the pictures from frenchbats first post.

EDIT: It has two memory chips, while the other has just one...

You probably won't see a lot of different pictures, and I expect Colorfly to provide only one set to Taobao. And why would they provide pictures of the CK4-R, when the CK4 will yield them a bit more sales. Anyway, I really have difficulties to understand the model differentiation at this point, especially concerning the model on sale at Taobao. CK4 or CK4-R ?

As a sidenote I'd that on pictures alone, the C4 and C4-R chip are probably badged identically I assume the C4-R is just a downgraded version of the same chip, probably with some non-functional parts, but good enough for a cheaper pmp. That's how most of the chip makers are working, especially in graphic cards. And Colorfly main business is graphic cards, so it's not such a strech to imagine they'd work the same way with this product.
