i tried to use the preset eq but from my experience, it has no difference with normal settings. i tried rock, bass, classical and all the other preset eq no effect on the SQ.

i'm looking for a new source for my earsonics sm3, i checked with jaben and it 1550 hkd + delivery to israel ..

 

if someone could compare it to the cowon's J3/S9/D3 SQ wise would be great ..

The memory can be expanded. Today, I bought 8gb TF card and presto, now I have 16gb CK4.

Can I ask what headphone are you using with the player?

I think the player has enough power to drive 16-32ohm headphone,

but for higher impedance it seems weak. I hope I get that desk amp soon.

 

But I still thinking on some portable amp too...

I have several amp in my list, like:

Headstage Arrow, TTVJ Slim, Just Audio uHA-120...

So I get finally the desk amp (Maverick Audio TubeMagic A1 Hybrid) and the Headstage Arrow 12HE 3G too.

 

About the Arrow (later maybe about the Tube Amp too, if someone is interested):

With that plenty of power to drive all headphones, and now the bass roll off disappeared:)
They have right at the headfonia:

The sound almost neutral, the tonal balance leans to the dark side.
More focus on the lower end, and smoothes a bit the gleaming highs.
The rest is characterized by good presence and spacious sound stage.
For me this is not bad at all.

Not taking anything away from the music, just fix things and add some more options too.

But this is only after a first 1 hour...(the Arrow is refurbished one)

Sounds very nice to me. There are still no news about the 16G version.

Looks very nice :) It is incredible, how thin the arrow is. Thank you for the pictures. You should post it over to the Pictures of Your Portable Rig [Part XIV] thread. I am sure nobody over there has seen the CK4 in head-fi like this.

I have Audio-Technica ATH-CKM55 Earbuds too:

With this there is a hiss noise (easily can be heard),

which is related to the movement of the earphone cables.

I get only this info about the firmware:

 

 "1)Probably in May, we will release out the upgrade package of CK4.
 2)You can get the upgrade package of CK4 from our website (www.colorfly.net) .Now
     We are preparing the website, adding the CK4 information."
 
No official info for the uSD card question, but I was brave, and tried: 32GB Class4 Kingston uSD card works fine :)
 
This does not impact the boot up time, only ~2-3 seconds delay for the first time when i get into the card by the file browser.
 
I don't recommend class 10 for sure...expensive, a lot of players incompatible with that, and no gain at all...

There is a (new?) firmware now on the webpage.

(under Download, Technical document:  Download), CFFWPKG_V1.01_2011.2.28.

 

Installed, but to be honest nothing changed...same issues:

like no HD FLAC playback, and cliking noise during HD WAV, no cover arts...

I think this is the release firmware from the 28th feb.
