Colorfly CK4, finally some competition for the HifiMan 60X ? - Page 9

Newly found Bugs/Problems:

- User EQ really not working (at least on FLAC/WAV)

  Not at all, tried several times. The preprogrammed (like rock..) works, but not ok for me.

- hiss noise

I have Audio-Technica ATH-CKM55 Earbuds too:

With this there is a hiss noise (easily can be heard),

which is related to the movement of the earphone cables.

I think it is not related to any EMC issue (phone/pc or else).

Strange because I did not have this issue with other (and much cheaper) players (I have Philips GoGear Vibe SA2VBE08).

By the way I like the player sound quality, but there are these annoying things...

I have written these problems to the support too, and these questions:

- When can we have the new firmware? Where can we check that, and get?

- Which microSD card supported?

(8-16GB-32GB?, Class 2-4-6-10?)

Well, I'll give them credit for responding and acknowledging the issues.  That's more than I expected.

Thank you for these informations. How are the highs, mids and the lows? With what headphones do you listen to the CK4 mostly?

This is what I have: SUPERLUX HD668B (with AKG velour earpads), and Audio-Technica ATH-CKM55.

I use mostly the Superlux, but on the road not.

The basses with them well defined and dinamic, goes deep enough. It seem I can distinguish between them, not washed together.

It seems a bit weak and for some cases I need more bass, as candy for my ears...(but the EQ is not working).

The mids just fine, I have not heard any better yet...Even the piano good to hear (because I dont like the digital sound of this).

Ther overal sound is with plenty of details, far more than any of my portable player does or what i heard before.

I compared to my HarmanKardon AVR-255 (sorry but this is modified too:) but really better that the stock),

I can't tell which is better...booth has holographic deep and wide stage, not in the face now sound.

In CK4 the presentation maybe the highs are too much for me. But 'Im quite sure that this is on the safe side.

To be hones I dont want to tell too much about the sound now, because I cant critize that too much (and my english not soo good).

I was pleanty of times on Hifi/High-End shows too, I know what is good (for me).

Now I heading to some portable headphone amp, with some warm sound (a bit tube like).

(like Headstage Arrow (4G?), iBasso T3/T3D/T4...but 100-250EUR)

I just add some more thing:

Actually find out how the User EQ works, so ok now, but the adjusting steps are not enough.

The sound with the IEM (Audio-Technica ATH-CKM55) is the best, it is transparent and detailed, with enough bass.

I really enjoy it, day-by-day better.

The bigger headphone just simply not ok with that (I heard that soundig better), soon will have one desktop amp for that.

Also I ordered 32GB class4 microSD, I hope this works with the unit.

just got mine today after a long wait. im struggling right now, cant find the eq set up. i checked the settings a lot of times but failed to see the eq set up. im using visang r03 and its working fine except for the minor problem that i mentioned.

Where can you buy one of these?

I bought from Jaben for 1200HKD + 320HKD for Fedex to Hungary (SUM ~196USD).

(+ I payed +25% VAT here + the VAT handling...SUM ~70USD)

You can find on taobao too, if you trust in that or you can manage that...

the preset EQ is not functioning but even at normal , ck4 can deliver. user eq is functioning but i didnt try. im satisfied, i mean very satisfied even without equalizer, not a big deal. this amazing player is only available in china for 799 yuan(122 usd). yes, i bought this from a trusted seller in taobao.

As I posted before, the Preset EQ and the User EQ works. I takes a while to find out how...

During playback push the menu button, in this menu booth << and >> and VolUp/Down work.

Then select by Play button what you like (Normal/Rock/Pop/Classic/Bass/Jazz/User EQ/3D/LEQ).

These Preset EQs does not suitable for my need (as in any device...), but maybe there are somebody who likes them.

In the User EQ menu for the band selection (80/300/1K/3K/15K) use I<< and >>I,

to increase/decrease (from 0 to +/-12dB in 3-3steps, like 4dB?) them

use the VolUp/VolDown then confirm at the end with the Play button (does not need to confirm by every band, only at the end).

The EQ menu does not support "preview", only after you confirm the selection by Play button.
