Bass comparison Sennheiser CX300 vs. ATH-M50 vs. HFI-580

First of all, I'm new to higher quality headphones but I was looking to purchase one soon between the M50's and the HFI-580's.

Currently I mostly use a pair of CX300 earbuds with my iPod and although I like their bass levels, sometimes the mids/highs seem harsh to me. I also have a pair of Skullcandy Hesh cans from my parents (while the cans were on sale) and they sound all right considering the price.

I'm now looking to purchase my first "real" pair of headphones and I was eying the M50's or the HFI-580's.

In terms of the bass levels, which of the 2 cans is closer to the CX300's bass? I've heard the 580's are punchier while others say the bass on the M50's are better.

For the rest of the sound spectrum, I've heard overall that the 580's are clearer while the M50's have slightly recessed mids.

I mainly listen to pop and electro-pop music so hearing the clarity of the voice and a bit of emphasis on bass is in my preferences.

Thanks for any suggestions!

cx300 = big overpowering bass

m50 = punchy bass, some say light, some say strong. its all due to preference.

hfi-580 - better quality and more quantity than m50

if u want more bass, get the phiaton ms400
