Best headphone jack for Sony MDR-V6?

Thread Starter

Recently acquired a new Sony MDR-V6 and am quite pleased with it, except for one thing: the jack. The connection seems staticky and fickle. From what I've read so far, it's just a bit shorter than other headphone jacks. I'd like to replace it with a jack that is tight-fitting and has excellent strain relief; materials composition (rhodium, gold, etc.) is secondary.

I'll only be using the 3.5mm jack; no need for the 1/4" adapter.

I've read that Neutrik and Switchcraft are good replacements. I'd be willing to pay extra for Cryoparts if it meets my primary requirements.

Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Switchcraft will do you just fine, they have a gold plated option if that's your thing, and they're cheap considering how good and reliable they are.  They're also alot easier to work with than the neutrik plugs.

I've had no issues with my neutrik plugs..

And it's hard to beat the price.

daleproaudio has free shipping.

For my D1001, I ended up buying one of each of these so I could get silver casing with gold conductor.
