Currently I've only my dell laptop as a source. I would like to have some kind of half decent source but I'm on a budget.
So I'm looking to get something older, maybe off ebay, that can do justice to a decent set of phones (panny HJE900).
If it only has a basic LCD that would be fine. By going this route I'm hoping to not spend much more than $50. I know that's not much and perhaps I'm on to a losing proposition.
Perhaps it would be better to get a cheapish amp but I've read reports that amps don't do much for the HJE900s while the source can have a big impact (someone mentioned being wowed on his iphone and non-plussed on his laptop).
Any suggestions for older sources for a poor peasant?
