Cheaper Alternative to the UE11 or JH16

Hello All!

I'm looking for a pic of custom IEMs which are fun to listen to, but do not necessarily have to stay close to the source, so to speak. They should have a fast, strong and punchy bass, but the treble and mids should pretty much stay close to the source.

I'm looking for a price around or under $700.

I live in Australia, so if I prefer not to get Ultimate Ears (since I have to get it through the Australian Dears, which add a three or four hundred to the price).

I listen mainly to hip hop, R&B, rap, electro, rock and electro, but sometimes I go beyond these genres.

Music is mainly either flac or 320kbps mp3 files, and some poorer quality tracks (e.g. mixtapes etc).

My source will mainly be a Sony Walkman (coupled with ALO MKII and Fiio L5) or HiFiMan HM-601.

Thanks for any suggestions! biggrin.gif

Look no further than the JH5's.

I have both and consider the 5's very similar in sound signature to the 16's, with the 16's having a better low and high end extension. That may sound crazy, but I've said it many times...the JH5's are a serious bargain and should be priced much higher.

Hope that helps.

Are you serious? hmmm, if so, it looks like a great deal =) Do you know anything about the JH11? It has dual drivers for lows, so i imagine it would have that bass extension... haha i've noticed it's on sale today =)

I highly recommend the Fabs Fabulous Earphones in your price range.  They are extremely balanced and have exceptional bass extension and, while not enhanced, the bass is done right and can really hit hard and/or go deep when it is in the song.
