Thanks! EHP-O2 amp on the way!

Meh, for that price I'd rather get an E12. Read this guys comparison of the two. http://www.head-fi.org/t/649174/review-fiio-e12-comparison-to-c-c-bh-jds-labs-o2-jds-labs-c421

The E12 is apparently miles better for midrange and bass, but the O2 is better for treble, and a little bit cleaner for soundstage... I'll let you decide based on musical tastes

Yep it does, which becomes a common complain point on these headphones. But there are short cables from sennheiser themselves that terminate to 3.5mm directly

And are quite a bit shorter at that, which I know I preferred.  I'm a bit curious if the momentum cables would work on the 598.

i have yet to try, the momentum cables are smaller than the hd598, just not sure if the locking mechanism fits (or you an remove the hd598's locking mechanism via 2 screws)

Yes they would. I have tried.

Hmm, I thought the momentum cable terminated in a 2.5mm like the hd598.  Guess I'll have to do some reading.

Ah cool, thanks Halfinfinity!

Ah cool, thanks Halfinfinity!

both are terminated to 2.5, just that the sleeves of the hd598 are slightly fatter than the momentum's sleeves

uhh, the plastic/metal coating that you actually hold when you hold a stereo plug

Sorry that I'm not familiar with cord lingo! Lol. I was thinking that, but I needed ya to confirm that. Maybe you meant the cord itself as the sleeve. I don't know!

I'm very familiar with cans by this point though.

So I just recently started delving into the world of audiophiles and picked me up a pair of these bad boys. But now I am confronted with a problem. I've found out a dac and amp combo would help me get better sound out of my hd 598s. What do you guys recommend? I want an all around boosted sound quality like the EHP-O2 dac amp I've heard does well with. I want to spend up to $100 I don't really want to go north of that price. I mostly game with these, lol shocker, and listen to electronic music, ie dub step and techno and house. So yeah I need help choosing and buying a dac amp thanks! I also will be mostly using it with my laptop and xbox. On occasion with my ipad and nexus 5 cell phone. Thanks for the help!
