Portable Player help!?

Hello,

 

Well it is time again for me to buy a new Portable Media Player. My iPod touch has finally died. I have been looking at products by cowon and I am debating between the J3 and X7. The problem is that the X7 is on preorder to B&HPhoto and back order to NCIX. Those are the only 2 retailers who ship/sell to canada that I could find. So my question is, Should I go for the J3 or wait for the X7 to come in stock? The x7 has been out of stock for quite some time now.

 

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Depends.  One is bigger than the other in terms of physical size and memory.

Well I do have a large amount of music but I am more concerned with sound quality and functionality then anything else. The X7 has wifi and a few other perks but from what I have heard it also has a significant amount of bugs and a very sluggish gui. I think I am leaning more towards the J3 also although I will miss my ipods wifi. Thoughts?

J3 is mildly buggy too; you should go with the J3 if you feel more secure about it.  Or you can grab the X7 and bear with it until further firmware upgrades, I imagine.

I wouldn't know how they compare as far as sound.

If you can get a D3 you might consider one. Everything good that the J3 has (except gapless for the moment), and WiFi/Browser/email to match your Touch's capabilities.  Cowon appears to be working hard to improve it, with 4 updates in the short time I've had mine.
