Leben 300 and US Voltage

I recently bought a used Leben 300x. It is the Japanese version which is wired for 100v. As is usual folks use them with a beefy 120 to 100v stepdown transformer. It's effect on sonics is debatable however it sounds great now so I am not sweating that.

Yesterday I opened it up to work on an issue and noticed that the power transformer has two terminals: one marked 100v which was wired up and a second, unused tap labeled 110v. I am now wondering if it would be workable to wire it up for 110v which is somewhat close to the 124v of my mains and then lose the stepdown transformer. I am not so worried about the B+ as with the filament voltage in terms of tube life on NOS tubes.

If I get a chance I might check voltages, put in some "beater" tubes, wire it for 110v and then check voltages again.

Also part of me wonders what a 110v tap would be used for anyway since US is nominally 117(120)v and I do not know of other world voltages that use 110...

Any thoughts?

Best,

Paul

As you say not used in many countries.  Have heard that if you use it at a slightly different voltage then the tubes may not last as long

Thanks. That is a good chart.

Anyone out there with a "120v" US market Leben feel like popping the bottom off and telling us what you see for power transformer tap markings?

Best,

Paul
