NuForce uDAC2 or alternative?

Thread Starter
Hello fellow headphiles. I'd like to complement a DAC to my Desktop to drive my 2 separate systems: 1) Desktop PC: Cambridge Audio Amp + Wharfedale Diamond shelf speakers 2) Home theater AV: Nuforce P9 V2SE monoblocks + Martin Logan Summits My budget is around $150 for the said DAC. Since I will not be using it with headphones, three questions come to mind: - Will the channel imbalance issue affect my home theater setup? The electrostatics are really delicate with soundstage imaging. - Was the hissing sound issue just an isolated problem? - Since there is no line level out which I'd really like for more transparency, should I look for another DAC that does just that? Any suggestions? Thanks!

I haven't checking the uDac2 thread lately much cause I'm spending time enjoying the uDac2 instead :) If you mean the "noise issue" on the first pages of the thread; it's fixed, at least for me. I was one of the first who noticed the "sound issue" which was best described as a "a monotonic high-frequency sound in the background, it wasn't exactly loud but it was clearly noticeable when turning the unit on with nothing playing". Hiss is/was only (very lightly) present when using very sensitive equipment. Don't hear it with my AKG K420 but I can hear it sliiiiiiiighly with my DBA-02. Please check the uDac2 thread for further information.
