i have ALAC files to stream to my home stereo, and compressed 256 VBR versions for my iPod...
so how do i keep the 256 versions out of my main library so i don't have to hear every song twice on my stereo?
TIA!!

Back in the dark ages when I had iTunes (foobar ftw) I put (ALAC) in the album tag that way they could be distinguished from each other.
hmmm... that may be a good idea. i just need to train my wife to use the ALAC albums. so there's no way to create two different Libraries... a portable and a home?
You could possibly move all the ALAC files to a playlist, and use that as a lossless "library". Not sure how well it would work though...
This would be easy to set up too. Just sort all files by bit rate & select everything over 320...
