Youtube videos on media player (mp4 and flv).

I've reading a lot through many different players, running from ipod, to sansa, to cowon, to samsung, to archos etc.... a lot of patchy information here and there and i seem to go nowhere with my decision, but one of the primary concern is to have a player that plays the media, if not no matter how good the SQ is, that is going to be useless.

i had a 8GB ipod touch (probably 2G) that will not play most of the youtubes videos i had unless i convert them with itunes and that takes really really long for each video. there are also some flv videos that i had which will not play on ipod or ipad whatsoever.

from what i read, cowon supposedly gives the best SQ, while ipod 64GB may be better in terms of cost per GB. cowon does not play mp4 from youtube. i'm looking for a player that plays the youtube video, have sufficient volume (preferably more than 32GB, at least 16), and provides at least some decent SQ.

i'm wondering

- is there a player that plays all mp4 without conversion, giving the best balance of cost/storage and SQ

- or is it better to find a way to convert the mp4 to play on cowon s9 or j3, and is there a way that the conversion doesn't kill me as slow as itunes does? if such a way exist, is cowon j3 among one of the most recommended for portable video and audio player?

p.s. still reading up on S:Flo2 and samsung yp-m1 and the many sony devices. not sure if they are fine with mp4 from youtubes...

i'm more and more inclined to get cowon j3, but i need to get around the issue of playing mp4.

does anyone know if the avc video format that cannot be played on cowon can be got around?
