I've never heard it. I may work well but I won't recommend stuff I haven't heard.

Headroom Total Airhead/Bithead (DAC/amp). Nice warm sound goes well with Grados.

Or you can check out of the iBasso stuff. Not sure about the cost, but you can roll opamps on some of their units to tailor the sound to your needs.

If you need just an amp, a CMOY (check ebay) would do. Just replace the socketed op-amp chip with an NJM4556 from Digikey.

haha gotcha. Do you run the udac through the little dot? Could I replace the udac with a pa2v2?

I use the uDac as a dac only feeding the I+.  The uDac has a headamp as well and can also be used as a usb to spdif converter.  I don't know if you're asking can you replace the PA2V2 with the uDac.  The PA2V2 is just an amp.

what's a headamp? What's the purpose in in feeding the little dot through the udac

Supposedly, the DAC(digital to audio converter) inside a computer is terribad. Therefore people buy an external one, when u connect your dac to your pc (usually through an usb port) it basically acts as an external soundcard. Hope that helped.

A headamp is a headphone amp, like the one you already have.

I posted a thread about looking for a good amp for Grado's in the past 2 months - most folks recommended the Little Dot 1+.

I found a local guy that built me a Millet Hybrid Max.  I am very happy with it, using either my modded SR60i's, or my stock Alessandro MS1i's.

As a source, I use a highly modded Logitech SB3, so I don't use a DAC in my system.

I've had good results with Grados and the Headroom Micro amp. Street prices around $200.

Good point Ross. And at that price, the amp works very well with my HD800s, T1s. A very under appreciated portable (sub $350) amp IMO.

x2 on the Headroom micro if you can get one used for cheap.

Or Schitt Asgard if you can stretch $250.

I know it's over your budget but in case you want to change your amp in the future, IMO graham solo is a very good match with grado.

 I got a SR325i and can't waitto listen to an RS1 bought on head-fi.

Spent last night with this combo and Diana Krall. It was quite not descent...such it was good.
