Brainwavz B2 Impressions & Discussion Thread - Page 16

Just a little comment. I ordered my N2 the week before Christmas, and I got them in April, so one month isn't a very long time to wait. Just chill bro.

Waiting wouldn't be a problem for me, I received an e-mail telling me it shipped almost a month ago now. So I tried to contact them and no joy. There are quite a few people in the same boat from this sale they had last month, no shipment confirmed with the HK carrier they use just the bogus your order shipped e-mail and then nothing. I didn't think I'd have any problems because when I had a question prior to placing an order I received a quick reply.

Are you talking about MP4 Nation?  I can't comment on the E7/E9 - except to say that mine (E7) arrived (to NZ) within 3 weeks of ordering.  I had no problem with their communication or service.

 

Re the B2 (from their website):

"The Brainwavz B2 is expected to be in stock by the second week of May. Preorders are subject to delay, please visit our forums to be kept updated."

 

So for me in NZ - I expect typical eta around last week May/1st week June.

Yes, I’m talking about Mp4 nation and the customer service they provide.  I have ordered products from other vendors overseas and waited for my order to arrive, but never had a company send be a bogus e-mail telling my order shipped then a month later a lot of people that ordered from a vendor all start getting the same run around http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2827697&page=3 no orders really shipped.  The only way the ship is if you file a complaint through pay-pal, shame on them. 

 

Why I posted here Mp4 nation is using this forum and thread to have people pre order the B2 product from them, all the great reviews in this thread does not tell you anything about the customer service they provide and that part of the product in my opinion.  If I can save one person from getting on the next thread that will be started in October this year called “My B2’s didn’t ship did yours” thread then I am glad I posted here.  When you enter  the fictitious shipping number in the carrier tracker they provide and no order shows up after a month, you’ll know what I mean.

 

Think about the B2 pre-order so far, a delay in the estimated shipping date with no e-mails to the customers with the option of refund.  Why?  When the ship date slips again you’ll see. Just stating my own experience - I haven't had an issue with them - and like I said:

I have faith they'll get here (like my other orders have done).

 

Hopefully Razzer will see this thread and get in touch about your E7/E9.  In the meantime - I think it's a little premature to comment on the B2's until they're actually ready to ship ......

Yeah, it totally makes sense for them to f*ck over everybody and bail right when their years of building a brand kicks in. Where did you try to track your order? You know it only works until it leaves HK right?

You know, we didn't just found them, and saying that they seem legit. They've been around for years. I ordered 10 times from them in the last year. All went fine.

I've ordered a few things from mp4nation before and they both arrived in less than a month. I am now waiting for M2 and B2. My M2 shipped a couple weeks ago and the tracking number doesn't work so I opened a support ticket and they responded in less than 12 hours (may 2nd email).

 

The email said that

 

"Hello,

Please be notified that unfortunately, HKP have been a little slow with tracking updates recently. Sometimes tracking can take up to 10 or more working days to activate, sometimes longer. But this does not mean your parcel has not gone out - what they are doing is backdating. So you may get an update tomorrow saying it left HK on the 5 or so days ago... We understand this is frustrating but unfortunately that\'s how HKP have been doing it recently as their postage has slowed considerably. I don\'t think that there are any problems with your parcel in particular, or we would have been contacted by the post. It is conceivable that the parcel is caught in outbound customs, as tracking wouldn\'t update until it had cleared customs.

We are sure there is nothing wrong and that your tracking will be live shortly.

Thank you.".

 

It could also be that you're item is stuck in customs. This past month I've ordered two items from the USA, they both arrived in Canada 4~ days but I didn't get them for a month because they were stuck in customs for 3+weeks. Also the tracking number might not work because the post office forgot to scan it on the way out (happened to me a few times).

 

My advice just email support and ask them to confirm that the item has actually been shipped out and ask why the tracking number isn't working.

I think they may not reply because there are tons of users messaging the same thing. So now there is no point in opening a ticket for this.

So it takes a month to leave HK? You have no clue.

What are you talking about? First: Read the post above by SpecR1. That explains everything. Second: I said it does not work outside HK with some POs like the hungarian.

I guess I'm down to wait and see Shufny maybe your right, just had a knee jerk reaction to you dropping the F in your post.

Got the review pair today.

Listened to them for about an hour with various styles of music.

Preliminary observations:

Very similar to DBA-02. I used untrimmed Comply T-100 large.

Highs were not sibilant, but clean and bright. Deep bass. Crystal clear mids.

Neutral, but not sterile or bland.

 

Basically... I'm very pleased I pre-ordered a set. Very pleased indeed.

If you like the DBA-02, you'll like these. Though no A/B yet, the B2's are very very similar and very good!

Remember... this review pair have the silver cables, not the coppers like the production models will have.

@ kanuka. The female voice is clear and forward and true. Ella, Diana, Nora, Melody, Ana Caram, Bonnie Raitt all sounded wonderful. You can hear their breath and their lips. Detail is incredible, but there is also a natural fullness and richness to them.

These have great mids... well actually pretty great across the spectrum.

 

But here is tonights revelation: There is a big difference between the tips I used this evening and the tips I used earlier today.

My normal tips with the DBA-02 are the Comply P-Series... well; those didn't work so well this evening. The T-100's I used this afternoon (and now, as I type this), are the only things I can use. These are untrimmed, and dial back the highs slightly.

Dialing back the highs slightly is what is needed with these. I'm hoping this is the result of the silver cables they used. Much of what I read before discusses the brightness (stridence) of these and attributes it to the silver. Well, I'll put my stamp of "youbetcha" on that analysis.

These are strident and they are overly bright.

They are fatiguing… but this can be moderated somewhat by the tips (and maybe a bit of the dreaded EQ).. The DBA’s are perfect with the Comply P-Series, this review pair of B2’s cannot handle that ‘open, honesty’. The Comply’s need to be un-trimmed… and they’re still too hot.

 

And so, my hope is that the copper cables on the production B2’s will work just as they do on the DBA-02.

As these review units stand, they are too bright even for my tastes, but other than that, they are wonderful, with a great sense of playfulness and speed. They are amazingly transparent and neutral. Every instrument I’ve heard tonight sounds pretty much right on the money. Stringed instruments sound very present and ‘plucked’ or ‘bowed’ in real space. This makes sense, of course due to the overpowering highs. The entire upper register is skewed to the bright, but the rest is near perfect.

 

I give a big thumbs up to the B2, more for what I hope they become than what these are.
