A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...
This quick review is done after a few hours of listening. I bought them from B&H for the decent sum of 150$. If you've done your research you'll find out that Ultrasone HPs are known for their...
I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...
I didn't think of TEAC when I began searching for a dedicated CD player. My initial short list included Denon, Cambridge, Marantz, Onkyo. The Teac intrigued me, so I went for it. It is very...
I want to re-cable my Ultrasone edition 9, but I have not been able to find a way to open the earcups and detach the stock cable from the drivers. Does anyone know how to do so?
I've been trying to pull the pads off with no success. I am afraid of using excessive force and ripping the ear-pads apart. Could you be a little more descriptive in your answer?
I've tried doing that with no luck! It just wont come off the earphone for some reason. Should I grab the pads from the inside and pull them out or from the outside? This is getting irritating...
Uhm... something about this tells me it might not be a good idea to go through with the recable if you're having this many problems opening the cups... This isn't a first recable is it? Hopefully not, those are expensive headphones to break.
The screws are simply small phillips-head (+ design)
I have a lot of experience with re-cabling and making cables. Apparently, my screws aren't philips but I cannot recognize them. Drew told me it was a torx screw, but I've tried removing the screws with my set of torx heads and none of them worked. Maybe I should show it to my local hyper-market as they may have the screw driver I am looking for. I'll try posting some pics if possible too...
Here Is the best picture I can get of the screw. The are no clear cuts so classifying it as a torx is a little bit hard for me and none of my heads worked! I am afraid Ultrasone drilled the screws in order not to be removed, but I really hope that's not the case. What do you people suggest?
For that you need the circular torx driver for the rounded off torx screw. Drilling the screw heads off is probably out because it will be extremely hard to get the screw shaft out of the plastic.
I would suggest leaving well enough alone. The stock cable is Ohelbach (spell check), not exactly junk ya know...
I've never heard of a circular torx screw before. I will have to do the re-cable because I've already paid for the parts I am getting from moon audio. Could anyone show me a picture of the kind of screwdriver needed for the job. I was really hoping for this re-cable not to be such a pain in the ass!
The stock cable isnt that bad. Its made by a company that used to make a seriously nice headphone cable. Sadly whether a cable makers name is worth anything is fashion as much as function.

You're so mean
I assumed you got a screw extractor? Failing that, maybe jamming a hex into it will work.
