what was the condition of your sextett lp? i got mine ''new in the box'' and never was used. just still had to replace the rotted foam tho cause doesn't matter if it was used or not foam rots no matter what. i say i have no clarity issues with them. i say they're actually almost very identical to my akg 240DF. they have the detail.the extended treble response.clear and beautiful midrange but the sextetts clearly has more bass ''presence''. bass is also more authoritative with greater impact and can be pushed as far as you can with them(i had them seriously vibrating and flexing).

the AKG 240DF clearly has the clarity advantage across the spectrum and tighter bass response. when i compare them i say my sextetts have what i say is like medium-high dampened bass and the DF's has highly dampened bass(like comparing amplifiers). they both has tremendous speed and transient response i have to give them credit for as well. i never heard the KRK's. i could give them an audition later this week-end. i just never bothered with KRK cause i don't like their studio monitors(not good clarity, bloated heavy bass, highs are tiny and not presented very well)

Mine was from a member on here from quite awhile back. Condition was very good. I also checked the internal foam and it's condition looks perfectly fine. Nothing rotting. I also recently recabled mine with Belden and didn't hear much difference. Sound clarity is still not that great. Even a step down from the K240 Studio. I'll have to see if there is anything else that could be degrading the sound, but probably not.

My K240 Sextett LP I basically hate because of this. I think right now it's my least used headphone and it's too bad.

that's odd cause i find my studios no where near the same level as my sextetts(especially clarity and least favorite in my 240 collection). well it's you opinion and i respect that. people are just different you know.

So, DJ100 is best choice for a budget of <$80?
