Gasthaus: kind of based on the concept of a medieval roadside inn. Practically every weekend we used to travel around and find a cozy gasthaus as a home base for partying. The proprietors were almost always a married couple, and sometimes treated us like family. Usually included a restaurant/bar, communal bathrooms upstairs, with breakfast included. I love those German feather blankets--so thick it looks like a huge pillow.

 

Schnitzel mit salzkartoffeln: definitely my favorite dinner meal.

Absolutely. The small bottles were 1.5 when I was there--completely unknown in the U.S.
