Will track volume level in software retain levels through DAC or DAC AMP?

If I use the level playback volume function in Media Monkey and am using a DAC (D4) will the tracksin ly library play at a normalized volume?   I guess I am confused since the DAC does not really recognize the software.  What about when I use D4 as a DAC/AMP?

On the PC, I want the track to be leveled as I use this with speakers.  Leveling is not as big of a deal on my mp3 player.  With that said, do most here on head-fi level their whole library with something like MP3 Gain?

You mean replay gain?

I'm too lazy to mess with it.  =p

I wouldn't know about Media Monkey, but if you use the normalize volume function in a media player, then yes, it will still affect playback even if you use the D4 as DAC/amp or just DAC.

You don't need to worry about the D4 recognizing what software you are using, just as long as your OS and media player recognize the D4 in order to output to it.
