Newb Here - Computer AMP wanted... I think

Thread Starter

Hello all!

I have owned my Sennheiser HD 555's for about a year now and love them.  90% of the time they are connected to my desktop computer but every now and again, I plug them into my iPod or Macbook Pro.  They sound 10x better in these than they do my computer.  I am wondering what I need to make them sound like this on my desktop.  Here is the motherboard on my computer:

EVGA P55 FTW SLI 132-LF-E657-KR LGA1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

(Go figure, already outdated)

I was reading up on amps and I think that's what I need but I am not sure what to get.  I just want it to sound like it does when I plug it into my iPod.  Can someone please help me out there?? I don't care where I get it from but I do have a $100 gift card to BestBuy.

I appreciate everyone's time!!

Thanks,

G

You could get an X-fi Titanium or an X-fi HD external sound card -both are sold at Best Buy for a hundred bucks each.  They're not the greatest cards in existence, but they easily beat the crap out of onboard sound.
