Grado SR80i with E7 for iPhone and laptop?

Hi guys,

 

I'm looking as upgrading from a set of S4i IEM's to something better. I was looking at the SR80i's with a Fiio E7 for my iPhone, these will also be used with my laptop and desktop PC. I really only have 2 questions that I hope you can help with.

 

1) Will these sound good with bands like Offspring, Within Temptation, Infected Mushroom and similar?

2) Is the E7 needed or is there a better option?

1. Yes

 

2. Grados don't need an amp but they love being amped. You will get so much more out of them if you use an amp. The E7 should do well with the SR80. Of course there are better options, but the E7 is perfectly suitable.

I use Grado SR80i and FiiO E7 as my on-the-go\portable rig.  Also a fan of Within Temptation, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the SR80's and E7 combo.  Just make sure to slap a screen protector on the E7.  The OLED protective cover\plastic scratches real easy.
