I just bought a yarland p100 from a fellow head-fi'er and am waiting for it to arrive. I've read all the yarland p100 threads and afaik the p100 comes with (chinese) el84 and 6n3 tubes. The tubes this yarland uses are the el84/6p14p/6bq5 and to my suprise the 12ax7. This is good news, since it opens up the possibilities for tuberolling. There are plenty of nos 12ax7/ecc83 tubes out there (although my wallet will feel it). Does anyone else have the yarland with this particular configuration? If so, how does it sound? And what tubes did you find to suit it best?

The El84 is corrrect. The 6N3 is the equivalent of the 5670/2C51/396a and not the 12ax7/ecc83.

I know, but that's what I'm saying: this yarland comes with the exact same tubes as the doge 6210. So it's not the 6n3 in there, but the 12ax7/ecc83/5751.

I'll make some pictures tonight and open it op, but it is the p100 headphone amplifier (edition 2009 with the neutrik jack and polished wood). The only headphone amplifier Yarland makes afaik.

I think I have an alternate edition of edition 2009. It has only one neutrik jack, but an added impedance knob with five different impedance settings, ranging from 16 ohms to 300 ohms. Although I am the second owner, it is still basically burning in, because it only played 100hrs and the tubes in it only 20hrs or so. It sounds very good though and I am curious to see whether the sound will change.

The yarland is starting to sound very, very good. I am listening through a vintage dt990/600 ohm which it drives with authority (impedance at the highest setting of 300 ohm). It has very good bass, good extension, great detail. Yesterday it sounded a tad on the harsh side, but that seems to be gone now. Overall sound is smooth. Good instrument placement and separation. It's got russian tubes (Electro-Harmonix 5751s, a high quality version of the 12AX7, with gold pins) and Soviet made 6P14P-EVs. I am listening to a very good recording: Tord Gustavsen Trio with Where Breathing Starts. This song is very dependent on detail and subtle dynamics plus it's got one of my favorite bass solo's ever. The yarland plays it wonderfully. I noticed that it does better with my dt990 than with the low impedance w1000, although it did very well with the ad2000. The k500 also sings from this amp (impedance set at 120 ohms). I'm going to give it some more headtime with different music now.
