For Sale:
FS: Exemplar Denon DVD-3910

Will Ship To: CONUS

Up for sale is a heavily modified John Tucker Exemplar Denon DVD-3910 in black.  This is a great price for this unit with all the upgrades that are included.  It is in great condition.  I'd rate the unit a conservative 8/10 and the remote a 7.5/10.  No noticeable marks on the unit other than a small nick in the top most edge of the upper right hand corner of the face (very small).  Also, markings on some of the buttons is rubbing off a bit.  All of the lettering on the face are in excellent condition, as is the Exemplar badge.  The remote has some scratching on the bottom of it, but is in otherwise great condition.  All of Exemplar's upgrades (except XLR outputs) were completed on this unit.  According to John Tucker the RCA outputs sound just as good as the XLR's because they benefit equally from Exemplar's balanced audio circuit upgrade, so the XLR's are not necessary.  All standard functionality is maintained.  Everything is installed within the Denon DVD-3910.  Unit has NOS GE tubes installed.  They are purported to be John's favorite tubes.

Unit can use any of the following tubes:  5965 , 6829, 7062, E180CC, or CV8431 (direct plug ins).  The unit is also a universal player and will play the following formats:  DVD-A, SACD, Redbook and HDCD.

Upgrades Include:

  • Siltech Internal Wiring Upgrade
  • Upgraded Female RCAs
  • New Clock - The stock clock is replaced with a TENT ENGINEERING re-clocking circuit powered by one of the new shunt regulators.
  • Lots of High End Capacitors (Several critical caps are replaced with Blackgate caps)
  • Critical "Post-DAC Mods"  NOTE:  Many Exemplar DVD-3910's do not include this essential upgrade.
  • Power Supply Rectifiers Are Upgraded
  • The AC power input is hardwired with upgraded wire, replacing the 3 mechanical connections in the stock unit.
  • 5 new independent high performance shunt regulators are added to the unit.
  • A new active loaded, shunt regulated tube stage is added.
  • New set of high performance stereo outputs.

I have excellent feedback here, Audiogon, and Ebay under this username.  There is a link to my archived feedback in my signature.  Reason for selling:  I just bought a PS Audio Perfectwave DAC.  I hate to let this go, but the DAC was calling.

I'll post pictures soon!

This is an incredible player. I can't imagine what could replace it at anywhere near the original price.

It really is a fantastic player!  I replaced my Meridian G07 with this.  I never looked back.  I have added pictures to this thread.  I have a ton more pictures for those interested HERE.  As you can see from the pictures, the player is in great condition.  I believe I have rated it conservatively.  Pretty amazing to see all the changes under the hood and the quality of workmanship.  I will be putting it on Audiogon tomorrow..
