The filters look even more nastier.  :(

There is no way to clean it. It may have something to do with the tropical climate here. Maybe it is more or less like this after 2 yrs of heavy usage.

However this doesn't seem to affect the audio, when compared to my other pair of EX1000 (Japan version). BTW, the stock cables for the Japan version look/feel much better than the US version.

One question to you guys who pair the EX1000 with stock iPod classic 7g, what's the volume you use on the classic running Apple's original firmware? I am almost always at the maximum.

Anyone have any comments on the EX-1000 vs. the DN-2000? Torn between the two...any help is appreciated! Thanks guys!

This may be psychological, but to my ears it sounds even more refined with the EX800ST cable for the EX1000. BTW, I just noticed the EX800ST cables have the gold plated metal threads while the EX600/EX1000 cables have the plastic threads.

I was listening to some of my favorite symphonies and orchestral work last night, and that clean and spaced team work sounding is amazing. The EX1000 just delivers the speed, air and energy needed for this type of music.

When it comes to testing my gears, I always choose the Piano Concerto No.1's of Brahms and Chopin. Those pieces could sound muddy with the wrong "synergy".

Guys I am convinced that my fully burned-in US version EX1000 with the EX800 cable sounds the best to my ears, perhaps it has something to do with my capless setup for the source.

After I did the testing/comparison as summarised in this post, I switched a few times between the EX800 cable and the EX1000 cable (long one) on the US version EX1000. The EX800 cable just wins my ears.

Holy, didn't expect this would make some difference. Next I will diy a cable using 26 awg pure silver solid core with cotton dielectric. Already got all the wires and debating on destroying which stock cable for this project. Let's see how bright the EX1000 could be. :D

I think I can live with these toys for the _ of my life. A 256GB CF diymod (direct out to LOD pins) powered by a 2000 mAh battery. I don't even want to talk about the sound.  :)

Well for the Japan/European version, the short cable is almost useless IMO. That could be easily destroyed if I am not concerned about selling that pair in the future.

I will post some pics when I start working on the surgery.

Thanks in advance.

Used to have both at the same time. FX700s are bassier with more recessed mids and an aggressive upper midrange which makes guitars sound all satisfyingly crunchy and whatnot. Don't have either now though; fell on rough times/got robbed/staying in shelter etc. and only have crappy $5 beaters. I miss these things bad.

Man I am really sorry to hear this, and hope things will turn around for you in the near future.

On my previous comment on the short EX1000 cable being useless, that's not exactly true. You can use an extension cable to make it practically useful, who knows what that extension cable may do some magic to the audio.  :)
