Best use for headphones of all time?

I've seen the video before but it's not about the HP IMO. I don't see a solid connection.

I guess I was struck by the fact that the performers never met their distant musical collaborators, they only heard them playing through their headphones.

 

On the other hand, most popular music is probably recorded a track at a time rather than as a true ensemble performance. So you have a point.
