MY COMPUTER IS CLIPPING WTF...

I just sold my amp, and I'm waiting on the new amp to be shipped to my house. So anyway, for the next two weeks, I am forced to use the audio out of my computer. I've been listening for like 10 minutes and it keeps clipping. At least I think it's clipping, the audio gets stuck on a certain spot for like half a second and goes"BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" and then continues on. I used to have a DAC, and it had some problems, but nothing like this.

Any guesses as to the problem? This didn't happen when I only used the audio out before, so my guess is the Power supply on my comp is crapping out/ not enough power. Help? redface.gif

Hmm, try updating your drivers perhaps?

That's definitely not clipping though.

AFAIK they are the latest drivers. I'll go look.

It does clip too, but only at loud volumes.

Look in your motherboard manufacturer's website, not the codec manufacturer's (VIA, Realtek, etc).

MoBo manufacturer's drivers are always recommended.

I uninstalled the VIA audio drivers and went back to the stock ones that came with my mobo. Early results are promising.

Nope, still clips.

Before, I had the mobo's recommended drivers. Any other ideas?

My mobo is Asus M4A79XTD EVO if that matters.

Ok guys, I fixed it.

Here's what I did. First I uninstalled all the programs on my HDD. Next I took a baseball bat and beat the s*** out of my computer.

Turned it on and everything's working now, thanks!

Make sure you do a complete zero-fill to your hard-drive to prevent data theft after disposal. biggrin.gif
