My Xonar Essence STX is dropping in and out every 3 minutes. Big issue!!!

Hello,

My computer specs are listed at the bottom of this post.

Audio Connection: Audio Engine 5 > Xonar Essence STX via Mono 1/8 to Stereo cables

So I have built my new computer and the audio sounds perfect. Nice and crisp but every 3 minutes the audio will go silent. Then I wait 3 minutes...then it will start back up again for 3 minutes then go silent again.

I have re-installed my drivers, no go. I have plenty of power supply to the card, the sound is still be registered under the Xonar and Windows 7 as if something is playing but no audio coming from the speakers.

Speakers are not the issue, plugged the Audioengine into my ipod and played them for 5 hours.

The only thing I am thinking of right now is that:

1. Card is overheating / faulty card.

2. Not enough voltage to the PCI bus???

3. I have been overclocking so perhaps I need to bring more juice to the card.

What do you think  could be the issue???

Thanks!

You could try burning an Ubuntu Linux Live CD, and then boot up the computer with it (don't worry it won't mess up with your hard drive). If the sound works fine, then it means it's a software issue. If it doesn't, it's probably a hardware issue.

A lot of people have crazy problems with sound drivers versus Windows 7, so we need to rule this out first.

Ok. Can you give me a link to where I can find the ISO file? Then I will do this.

Here. Get 32-bit as recommended (for compatibility and stability). wink.gif

If you're unable to play mp3s or whatever, try listening to Grooveshark or something.

Also with no sound playing there is a "Pop" sound every 5 minutes...

As if it's still dropping the audio in and out when nothing is playing.

Did you try changing the soundcard to another slot? I'm fairly sure I've heard someone fixing soundcard problems like this before...

Also, you did remember to plug the power molex on the soundcard, right? tongue.gif
