I love old Sony ES gear.  I collected a few and would like to show you a couple.  I'll post more as this thread grows.  Please share with everyone what you have.

Sorry for the bad pics.

I'll play as I have/had many nice ES gears in my collection.  Currently, I have Sony STR-DA9000ES and Sony TA-N/E/P 9000ES as well as modwright Sony SCD-777ES & DVP-9000ES.  Will post pics later.

My first cd player was an X333ES and now I'm using an XA3000ES.  The music selector dial is the best feature, I haven't seen other brands with that.

The SCD-777es and SCD-1 has music filters.

At one point, I used to have the X5000 myself.  Not exactly a Sony ES but super sexy indeed.  The sound of the X5000 was on par with the XA7ES, which is quite a good sounding for a redbook player.

Now without the top!  You gotta love the fixed pickup mechanism!

Looks to be the same transport as my CDP-XA7es.  I had a CEC that was top loading also.

Yes, it is.  The X5000 & 3000 were released back in 1996 or 1997, so I believe Sony shared several parts b/w the XA7ES and X5000.  Though the innards of the XA7ES that I used to have and X5000 are different, the two models sound identical to my ears. This may amount to the same DAC.

I'm using an R-core from an SCD-1 in my modded Transporter.  Does that count? tongue.gif

I have a few Sony ES components.  I use the Sony V333ES Surround receiver and the Sony K890ES cassette deck in my office system.  I also have a Sony 60ES DAT recorder that I use in the studio.  All three components work perfectly, and are in mint condition.

I'll post the picture of the Sony STR-DA9000ES and SCD-1 when I get home.  The SCD-XA5400ES should arrive today!

Congrats on the 5400. Now is the time to buy as future availability seems uncertain.

As request, here's my Sony SCD-1.  I sold this particular unit long ago, but to me the SCD-1 is the most beautiful disc spinner on earth.  It is built like a tank and the attention to details is first rated.  The blue accent on the left/right panels are super cool!  Sadly, the redbook playback leaves a bit to be desired.  On the side note, the XA5400ES is as good as claimed.  I'm extremely impressed by the XA5400ES, and I wish Sony will continue to improve on this platform.  Knowing Sony, this won't likely happen.  The XA5400 is more refined sounding than my SACDmods DVP9100ES.  If the SCD-1 sounds anything like the XA5400ES in redbook playback, I will keep it forever.

Glad you are enjoying the SDS, let's this discuss via PM.
