Ibasso t4 or Headstage Arrow or RSA mustang?

Thread Starter

I plan on buying a small portable amp sometime in the future for use with iems, and as far as I can tell from reading this forum, these are the smallest decent portable amps I can buy. But, if there are better options, I'm all ears. I am aware that the t4 is in a different price class than the arrow and mustang but I'd still like to know how it compares considering the price.

I'd probably use the amp at home, however I would like to possibly be able to use in on-the-go. For that reason, size is a consideration, particularly with the mustang, which may be too thick. I'd kind of like to be able stuff one of these in my pocket with an ipod or clip+. I'm not sure if this is realistic since I've never owned an amp, but it would be great.

I'm also curious about features. I understand that the Arrow has crossfeed and bass boost. I'm not sure about the mustang or t4. What features do these have, and how affective are they?

Thirdly, and most importantly, sound quality is of question. I have a pretty good idea of how the mustang sounds based on skylab's review. But I really have no idea about the t4 or arrow.

Any advice on all this would be appreciated. I apologize if I sound noobish as I'm still quite new to the head-fi scene.

You probably can't go wrong with the Arrow or Mustang.  The T4 is only available second-hand I think.  Currently, its successor is the T3.

Arrow or T3 will probably be your best bet as these are slimmer.  P-51 isn't very big either.  In any case, you may have trouble sticking everything in a pocket.  I'd recommend clipping your rig to your belt or placing it in a coat pocket.

Alternatively, Clip+ by itself, no amp.  That thing is damn tiny.
