Buying a new player. But which one? Help!

Hi all

So im on the hunt for a new mp3 player, have been looking for a good couple of weeks now. Read plenty of reviews, comparisons etc. I still cannot decide on which one to purchase, hence I have decided to start this thread. *No ipods please.

The ones im looking at mainly are:

Zune HD 32gb

Cowon j3 16gb (+ 16gb micro sd)

Sony nwz-a847

- Want 32gb at least

Looking for something with decent battery life and of course SQ. The three above are (afaik) rated at at least (claimed) 30hrs battery. I know one or the other might have longer claimed life....

I dont want anything larger than a 3.5 screen. And im not too fussed if its touch screen or not, although that would make browsing songs easier. Then again, a lot of my music is made up of dj sets, so browsing I dont think will be too much of an issue? Gapless would be nice but a deal breaker...

I will be travelling mid year (August), but am looking at getting one now as I would most likely make use of it still. Unless there are any better players coming out that people know of, or events where new models may be announced.

O also, would much prefer a device I can drag n drop files with, would be much easier as ill be on the go frequently. I know the Sony and the Cowon do it, the Zune does not how ever I think i read somewhere there is a method that allows it? And it does support Windows media player sync, which is fairly easy to use. Just dont want itunes or the like....

Budget no more than US$250... I know finding the Sony at that price would be a struggle, i think... Obviously the cheaper the better... smily_headphones1.gif

Recommendations for other players are more than welcome :)

Thanks in advance

edit: forgot to mention... no funky volume limiters please. Or the option to disable it if the player has one...

Allow me to whole-heartedly recommend the J3.  Simple drag and drop file placement, great battery life, and a beautiful screen along with powerful BBE enhancements, make the J3 THE player to get.

You can't drag/drop or use Windows Media Player sync with the Zune HD.....you're stuck with only being able to use the Zune software.(it's way more locked down than an iPod)

I am in the exact same position as you, and have narrowed it down to the same players you have, except the 16GB versions.

In the end, if I can get it, it'll be the cowon, as it seems in this range nothing comes close.

The only mitigating factor is the Sony has noise cancellation built in, but this also has the disadvantage of needing sony's own IEMS to benefit from it.

If you already have in-ears you like, it's a negative, but if you're also in the Market for IEMs and would like NC, it may well tip you over.

FYI , there's a black 32gb J3 for sale as we speak for 200$

If i didn't already have a 16 gb j3 i would have bought it myself

No brainer really....
