Almost all of the media that I own is in digital format. My textbook for Principles of Operating Systems entitled Operating Systems: Internals and Design Systems by William Stallings is the digital version on the MyScribe textbook system. I own an Amazon Kindle 3G + Wi-Fi and all of my books are in Kindle format too. All of my software applications and operating systems are stored on my Iomega eGO PLUS Black Belt 500 GB hard drive from Microsoft, MSDN, NJIT, and Dreamspark along with VM Ware. I am in the process of converting all of my music CDs to Apple Lossless format. All of my movies are in their original uncompressed .ISO format.
It is just so damn convenient and economical. I no longer have to worry about physical storage space for books, music, movies, software, magazines, etc. anymore. I can make backups of my files as I want to hard drives, USB flash drives, and Mozy online backup. Everything that I need is easily accessible within my fingertips instantly.
I plan to clear out more space in my bedroom by donating all of my physical books to my local public library in the coming weeks. That will free up a lot of storage space that I can use.
How about you?
Do you need a physical hard copy of everything that you own? Have you converted your library to digital as much as possible?
