HD800 with emmeline b-52 or beta22??

which would be a better choice for an amp for the Hd800? price wise, sound wise, comparing between SS and tube. my set up is PC-->foobar2000(wasapi)-->jkenny m2tech hiface-->oyaide db-510-->NFB-8-->amp??-->hd800(getting a balanced cable but not sure which yet.) any help would be appreciated. =)

The B22 is several classes above the B52 (imho, of course).  Price-wise, the B22 costs less.  Sound-wise, it isnt muddy and colored like the B52 ;)

I haven't got chance to try the B52 but B22 + HD800 is a truly amazing combo. Even a maxxed-out B22 (better attenuator, custom transformers, boutique internal wiring and connectors) would cost much less than the B52.

I've actually heard good things about the B52 + HD800 combo. I wouldn't get it personally, but I'm just saying.

 

I'm much more interested in the Luxman P1, Balancing Act, and Dynahi.

For a solid state amp, you should also consider the Headamp GS-X, which is simply amazing with the HD800.  It is definitely in the same league as the beta22 and both are regarded as having a very similar if not identical SQ.   If you have the know-how to build a B22 yourself, then this would be the least expensive option but most people have a builder do this, in which case the B22 and GS-X would be nearly equal in price, and both cheaper than a B52.

I have the B22 4 boards balanced + HD800 combo, they sound wonderful to my ears.

the GS-X looks kinda good but the B22 has alot of customization options. and wow dannie01, ur B22 looks awesome. built it urself? or a builder built it? how much did it cost u?
